Steps Toward Your Next Bathroom Remodel

Been looking at your bathroom for years thinking it needs a refresh?  Inspired by what you’ve seen on HGTV?  When you are actually ready to begin a bathroom remodel you might feel overwhelmed about where to start.  This is a common concern in a renovation project but the team at Graham’s Flooring and Design are here to help you break it down into manageable steps to make the project enjoyable and (relatively) stress free.

Step 1: Inspiration!  What does your dream bathroom look like?

Imagine having NO time or money constraints for your renovation project.  Wouldn’t that be nice?!  What would your updated bathroom look like?  Do you want it to look clean and crisp, spa-like, or modern farmhouse?

Do you want to change the footprint or size of the shower?  Add a bench or a niche?  New vanity?  New tub?  Are you concerned about resale value?  What colors do you want to see?

Answering these questions will help guide your bathroom remodel.  Sites like Pinterest and Houzz are great places to start in getting inspiration for your own space.  And our designers at Graham’s Flooring and Design are always ready and able to help you bring your vision to life.

Step 2:  Budget

You will need to do a bit of research to determine what you want your bathroom to look like and what that may cost you.  According to realtor.com, the average bathroom remodel costs $9,000.  Of course, the cost depends on the extent of the remodel. Changing the footprint of the bathroom or moving plumbing and wiring is more expensive than simply changing out tile, and a tiled shower pan is more expensive than a fiberglass insert.

Step 3:  Bring in a Professional

The designers at Graham’s Flooring and Design are experienced and ready to help you plan the overall style and design of your bathroom.  If you need to move walls, change plumbing or replace cabinetry, you may need the additional help of a contractor.  They can help with demolition, plumbing, electrical work, drywall, carpentry, painting and trim.  It is important to hire a contractor that is experienced, fits your needs and is professional.  We are always happy to provide referrals for contractors or subcontractors to help complete your remodel.  Talking with past clients and seeing end results of past projects is an important step in hiring the right contractor for you.

What part of the remodel will we at Graham’s Flooring and Design provide?  Besides the design, we can provide tile, other hard flooring surfaces, countertops and backsplashes.  We can demo old floors or tile, build custom shower pans, install in-floor heat, and install floor tile, wall tile, countertops, and backsplashes.  Essentially, we do the things that make the bathroom look great!

Step 4:  Construction

It’s go time!  This step varies depending on whether you are hiring a contractor or doing some of the work yourself.  The amount of hired help you need and the extent of your remodel helps determine the timeline for your project.  Generally, the countertops and tile/flooring are among the last to be installed.  We at Graham’s Flooring and Design are always willing to help in the coordination and completion of your dream bathroom.  Give us a call today!
